Choosing the Right Breed for You

Now you have decided to adopt a dog, you need to think about what type of dog is right for you. Consider some of the following factors when looking at our dogs.

  • Size
Larger dogs will need more living space and exercise. Puppies that seem small now may grow to be quite large!
  • Age
Puppies and younger dogs require a lot of hard work whilst older dogs are more prone to illnesses
  • Coat
Long haired dogs are prone to shedding and require a lot more grooming and maintenance
  • Activity Levels
Some breeds require a lot of exercise whilst others are happy to stay indoors most of the day
  • Intelligence
Some breeds can be trained to a very high level, but need more mental stimulation otherwise they may be destructive
  • Compatibility
Some breeds do not get along with other pets and some do not get along with children

Do not worry if you are not sure what type of dog is right for you, our trained staff are available to give you advice and we will never let you adopt a dog that is not suitable for you.
